Arbor Biotechnologies is a clinical-stage gene editing company advancing genomic medicines for serious diseases including ALS and primary hyperoxaluria type 1. This role is critical to the company's preclinical pipeline: you will design, execute, and analyze in vivo pharmacology studies in rodent models that determine whether gene editing approaches work in living animals and are ready for IND-enabling studies.
You will report to the Senior Scientist, In Vivo Pharmacology and work on-site in Cambridge 4–5 days per week. Your responsibilities include:
• Running complete in vivo rodent studies from start to finish: dosing via intravenous or retro-orbital routes, clinical monitoring, blood collection, tissue harvest, and necropsy.
• Coordinating study logistics between the laboratory and animal facility, including scheduling and setup.
• Processing tissues and biological samples; isolating DNA, RNA, and protein for downstream analysis.
• Executing molecular and biochemical assays including qPCR/ddPCR, RT-qPCR, Western blot, Simple Western/Jess, ELISA, and RNAscope.
• Analyzing and visualizing study and assay data using GraphPad Prism and other tools.
• Presenting findings and data summaries to project teams and cross-functional collaborators.
• Maintaining accurate study records, sample inventories, and protocols.
The data you generate directly informs whether programs advance to the clinic, making this a high-impact individual contributor role on the critical path of drug development.
REQUIREMENTS:
• Bachelor's degree in pharmacology, biology, neuroscience, molecular biology, or related field with 3+ years of industry experience; OR master's degree with 1+ year of industry experience.
• Hands-on experience running in vivo rodent studies, including dosing, monitoring, blood collection, tissue harvest, and necropsy.
• Experience dosing rodents via intravenous, retro-orbital, or comparable routes.
• Experience processing animal tissues and biological samples for molecular, biochemical, or pharmacodynamic endpoints.
• Proficiency with molecular and biochemical assays (qPCR/ddPCR, RT-qPCR, Western blot, Simple Western/Jess, ELISA, RNAscope); flow cytometry experience preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to manage samples and timelines across multiple concurrent studies.
• Support of IND-enabling studies preferred.
