Foundry Robotics is building an AI-native robotics manufacturing company focused on deploying advanced assembly and production capability for leading robotics companies and national-security-critical hardware. The company is transitioning from product development to commercialization and is seeking a Senior Recruiter to own the growth of both the sales organization and business operations functions.
This is a deliberately broad role that encompasses hiring across two major areas: the commercial organization (account executives, sales engineers, marketing) and business operations (finance, legal, IT, supply chain, facilities, program management). As the company scales, this role is expected to split into two specialized positions, and the person in this seat will have first choice of which half to own based on their experience and preference.
Key responsibilities include:
- Own all hiring for the commercial and business operations organizations
- Develop deep business acumen: understand deal structures, customer profiles, unit economics, and working capital dynamics
- Establish role clarity before opening requisitions; define success metrics and trade-offs rather than sourcing against titles
- Build compelling recruitment narratives for commercial candidates and address difficult questions credibly
- Conduct talent competitor analysis across robotics, autonomous vehicles, defense primes, industrial automation, and software companies
- Own offer strategy and closing conversations, including equity-versus-cash discussions specific to hardware companies
- Create competency maps for commercial roles
- Use AI and modern tooling to multiply sourcing, research, and market-mapping output
The role is 100% in-person at the Emeryville, CA office. You will work with 3–5 hiring managers initially and must serve both halves of the function well before specializing.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 5+ years of recruiting experience with real depth in either GTM or G&A (ideally both, but strong expertise in one area counts)
- Business acumen: ability to read pipelines, understand sales models, and hold credible conversations with finance candidates about functional needs
- Proven closing ability; track record of winning candidates who had competing offers
- Genuine curiosity about business mechanics—customers, deals, margin structure, working capital
- Experience hiring first-of-kind roles (first AE, first controller, first specialized marketing lead) with no existing team to pattern-match against
- Proficiency with AI-powered recruiting tools for sourcing, research, and market mapping
- Commitment to ethical hiring: willingness to lose candidates at offer stage rather than oversell the opportunity
NICE TO HAVE:
- Experience in complex hardware or capital equipment manufacturing
- Defense, dual-use, or government-adjacent commercial hiring (capture, business development)
- Early-stage company experience where talent functions were built from scratch
- Familiarity with Ashby ATS
