CesiumAstro is seeking a Senior Quality Engineer to join its team in Westminster, CO. The company develops communication systems for satellites, UAVs, launch vehicles, and other space and airborne platforms.
In this role, you will drive continuous improvement initiatives across manufacturing and quality operations using lean manufacturing, Six Sigma methodology, and Kaizen principles. You will analyze current operating procedures, collect data, and recommend the most effective improvement techniques for the organization. You will be responsible for developing and maintaining central directives related to systematic problem solving, process quality engineering, and lean manufacturing principles within the Quality Management System (QMS).
Key responsibilities include:
- Identifying improvement opportunities and developing root cause countermeasures
- Leading and facilitating process improvement workshops and projects across the organization
- Mentoring and developing lean practitioner candidates through projects and events
- Developing and driving Value Stream Mapping (VSM) and continuous improvement roadmaps
- Ensuring lean activities align with organizational goals, metrics, and business strategy
- Providing leadership guidance on Lean and Six Sigma principles and methodologies
- Planning and leading employee development training in Lean and Six Sigma
- Performing machine capability (CmK) and test equipment capability (GR&R) studies using statistical software
- Supporting internal, external, and AS9100 quality audits
- Supporting development and implementation of performance metrics
- Interfacing with management, engineering (software and hardware), and manufacturing teams to drive corrective action culture
This is a multi-dimensional role requiring cross-functional collaboration and the ability to transition into a lean process quality engineer role, optimizing the production system using lessons learned methodology.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree required; engineering or related degree preferred
- Minimum 5+ years of relevant work experience
- Experience with continuous quality improvement activities in a manufacturing environment
- Experience with AS9100 or ISO9001 Quality Management Systems compliance
- Demonstrated history of leading Kaizen events that eliminated waste and improved flow
- Strong digital, written, and verbal communication skills
- Expertise in root cause analysis and continuous improvement
- Value Stream Mapping experience
- Lean Six Sigma knowledge
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
- Manufacturing experience in aerospace or electronics industry
- Six Sigma Black Belt or Green Belt certification
- AS9100 / ISO 9000 auditor certification
