The Senior QA Engineer II will lead quality efforts across products supporting healthcare providers, patient workflows, and diagnostic reporting. This role combines hands-on testing expertise with technical leadership, cross-functional collaboration, and continuous process improvement. You will work with product managers, designers, and engineers to establish quality throughout the product development lifecycle.
Key responsibilities include:
- Partnering with cross-functional teams to develop comprehensive, risk-based test strategies based on business requirements, architecture, and system dependencies
- Defining and improving quality standards, testing practices, and processes across teams
- Performing manual and automated testing of web and mobile applications (exploratory, functional, acceptance, regression, end-to-end, UI)
- Testing REST APIs and backend services for correctness, reliability, and resilience
- Leading test automation strategy, defining standards and coverage while balancing product risk with maintainability and execution speed
- Identifying, documenting, and tracking defects and quality risks through resolution
- Leading root cause analysis with engineers to prevent recurrence
- Communicating test strategy, quality risks, and release readiness to technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Identifying systemic quality and process issues and driving practical improvements
- Mentoring engineers and team members to strengthen quality practices and shared ownership
- Integrating automated testing into CI/CD pipelines
- Evaluating applications against accessibility requirements (WCAG) through manual and automated testing
- Contributing to performance and security testing based on product risk
Note: While fully remote, the company prefers candidates able to work Pacific Time Zone (PST) hours for team collaboration. No visa sponsorship is provided; applicants must be legally authorized to work in Canada.
Requirements:
- 7+ years of professional software quality assurance experience
- Demonstrated success leading quality initiatives across cross-functional and partner teams
- Deep knowledge of QA methodologies, test design techniques, and risk-based testing for complex systems
- Strong understanding of web and mobile technologies, client-server architecture, APIs, integrations, and system dependencies
- Hands-on experience testing native or cross-platform mobile applications on iOS and Android (devices, OS versions, screen sizes, network conditions)
- Hands-on experience testing REST APIs and backend services
- Proficiency in at least one programming language (JavaScript, TypeScript, Python, Java)
- Experience developing or improving test automation frameworks, standards, coverage, reliability, and maintainability
- Experience with modern web or mobile automation frameworks and CI/CD integration
- Knowledge of accessibility testing and standards (WCAG) with experience using tools such as Axe, Lighthouse, or screen readers
- Experience with defect tracking and test-management tools (Jira) in Agile environments
- Strong analytical and communication skills to explain quality risks and technical tradeoffs to varied audiences
- Record of driving cross-functional quality or process improvements through completion
- Experience mentoring technical and non-technical colleagues
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or related discipline, or equivalent professional experience
