Isar Aerospace is seeking a Senior Project Manager for Ground Systems to lead the establishment and deployment of mid- to large-scale test and launch facilities. Based in the Munich area (Ottobrunn), you will manage complex infrastructure projects from initiation through engineering, construction, commissioning, and handover to operations teams.
You will technically manage multidisciplinary, cross-functional project teams spanning multiple departments, coordinating an international constellation of internal and external stakeholders. Key responsibilities include managing timelines, budgets, and top-level risks; identifying and mitigating technical, financial, and operational risks proactively; and reporting project status to senior management. You will collaborate closely with internal customers on rocket systems to ensure projects meet scope and timeline requirements, contribute to establishing new Isar Aerospace sites, and help set up and improve workflows and processes to accelerate execution.
Required qualifications include a B.Sc. or M.Sc. in mechanical, civil, aerospace, or chemical engineering (or equivalent); approximately 5 years of relevant experience in systems engineering, project management, process plant, propulsion test bench, launch base design, or infrastructure/construction projects; demonstrated experience managing complex, international infrastructure or process plant projects; and familiarity with regulatory environments for compliance, safety, and certification. You should have solid knowledge of project management methodologies, strong technical and managerial problem-solving skills, and the ability to act as a reliable coordinator between stakeholders and engineers while keeping teams motivated. International travel is required, and fluent English is essential.
Bonus qualifications include German language skills, aerospace sector expertise with understanding of rocket launch systems and ground infrastructure, and project management certifications (PMI-PMP, PRINCE2, APM-PMQ, IPMA Level D/C, or similar).
