Salary: CAD 131,911 - 181,911 / annual
Kepler Communications operates the first commercial optical data relay constellation, with 33 satellites launched to date. The company provides real-time on-orbit connectivity for critical missions and supports advanced on-orbit compute and hosted payload capabilities.
As Senior Program Manager, you will spearhead the development and execution of mission-critical satellite systems from concept through on-orbit validation. You will drive strategic program initiatives that strengthen global partnerships and fuel growth in the space sector. You will lead a cross-functional team to develop and commission the Tranche-2 satellite constellation, serving as a key leader working closely with Engineering and Operations teams to ensure on-time, on-budget execution from initial kickoff through operational handover. You may also contribute to proposal efforts involving satellite systems development, software, commissioning, or on-orbit operations.
Key responsibilities include owning all aspects of program scope, schedule, cost, and risk throughout the full lifecycle; serving as primary interface with subcontractors and internal stakeholders; planning and facilitating programmatic and technical reviews; developing comprehensive program plans and performance metrics; driving accountability through informed decisions on scope changes; leading cross-functional coordination across engineering, operations, and business development; monitoring program health using KPIs (SPI, CPI, EAC); collaborating with Program Director, peer Program Managers, Chief Engineer, and Systems Engineering; identifying execution barriers and critical risks with mitigation plans; maintaining communication with department leads; and presenting program status to internal and external stakeholders.
The role is ideally suited for candidates with technical depth across aerospace engineering disciplines paired with strong program management acumen, proven ability to lead high-performing teams, and effective relationship-building with external stakeholders.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 7+ years of experience in aerospace or other high-reliability industries, with at least 4 years in a program management role
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in engineering or related technical discipline
- Knowledge of and experience with satellite development lifecycle—proven experience overseeing system development from design to qualification and integration
- Strong understanding and practical use of integrated master schedules (IMS) and earned value management (EVM) techniques
- Demonstrated ability to identify, assess, and mitigate technical, schedule, and cost risks
- Familiarity with Agile development practices and experience integrating Agile methodologies into hardware-focused program execution
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills to convey complex technical and programmatic information
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, managing multiple priorities in dynamic environment
- Proven success managing cross-functional teams, program budgets, and schedules
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills to influence stakeholders and build consensus
BONUS:
- Previous technical leadership experience (IPT lead, project engineer, systems lead, technical lead)
- Knowledge and/or experience in optical communications
- Experience with electronics development, flight software development, GNC/AOCS subsystem development
- PMP certification
