Salary: USD 146,000 - 194,000 / annual
Anduril Industries is seeking a Senior Product Sourcing Engineer to architect critical supply chains and cost strategies for revolutionary defense hardware systems. This role is embedded within the Deployed Special Projects team, requiring significant travel (~60%) to key manufacturing sites and supplier locations to solve high-stakes challenges in real-time.
Key responsibilities include: conducting supplier selection leveraging approved supplier lists; partnering with strategic suppliers on concept scoping, feature trade-offs, should-cost modeling, and joint design development; driving BOM development and consolidation with Quality and Manufacturing teams; managing CAPEX throughout new product introduction; conducting value-stream mapping to optimize supply network lead time and flexibility; completing BOM risk assessments with alternate component sourcing; ensuring component qualifications ahead of production; optimizing commonality and rationalizing components/suppliers; and leading cost engineering activities to converge bottom-up cost curves to product targets while maximizing total cost of ownership across the product lifecycle. The role also involves managing ad-hoc cost issues such as tariffs, import/export costs, and cost inflation.
Required qualifications: Bachelor's degree in supply chain, engineering, or related technical field; 8+ years of experience in sourcing engineering, supplier engagement/development, or design of electronics/mechanical devices; domain expertise in value/procurement engineering or TCO-related work at component and product levels; ability to travel ~60% of the time; ability to relocate to Costa Mesa if not already local.
Preferred qualifications include: Master's degree or advanced technical degree in mechanical engineering; deeper experience in design/development of electronics/mechanical devices, advanced sourcing activities, supplier development, early supplier engagement; familiarity with high-tech products in high-mix low-volume environments; startup environment experience; ability to obtain and maintain U.S. TS clearance.
