Preply is a unicorn edtech platform (Series D, $150M) that connects 100,000+ tutors teaching 90+ languages to learners in 180 countries. The company is expanding beyond language learning into non-language subjects (NLS), a new vertical that already represents a meaningful portion of the business.
As Senior Product Manager for Expansion, you will own the 0-to-1 launch and scaling of the non-language subjects vertical. This is a rare opportunity at a growth-stage company to build a new product category from the ground up, with high autonomy, high visibility to leadership, and a dedicated cross-functional team (designer, UX researcher, data scientists, engineers).
Key responsibilities:
- Develop and own strategy and roadmap for the NLS vertical, defining what Preply becomes beyond language learning
- Shape the end-to-end tutor and learner experience across the full funnel, from acquisition through retention
- Partner closely with design, research, data science, and engineering to translate strategy into shipped product
- Operate across the broader ecosystem (marketing, supply, operations) to drive vertical growth
- Prioritize competing opportunities and communicate decision-making rationale clearly
- Use qualitative and quantitative signals—experiments, user research, data analysis—to validate bets and iterate
- Build internal alignment and champion the NLS vertical, making the case that Preply can scale a new category as successfully as it scaled languages
- Define success metrics and use them to guide iteration, celebrate wins, and drive organizational learning
This is a startup-within-a-scaleup environment: expect a roadmap that evolves, high visibility, and direct communication with leadership.
Preply offers a competitive package including equity, relocation support to Barcelona, learning allowance, L&D budget, mental health support, Gympass wellness access, and generous time off.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Senior Product Management experience, ideally having scaled products from 0-to-10 and 10-to-100 in fast-evolving or ambiguous environments
- Comfort with evolving roadmaps and young, high-priority product bets (not mature, steady-state areas)
- Ability to think across the full tutor-learner funnel, not just one product surface
- Strong influence-without-authority: ability to drive buy-in from supply, product, marketing, and leadership without formal control
- Growth mindset paired with craft: data and revenue driven, but capable of going deep to understand subjects, verticals, and underlying needs
- Marketplace experience, ideally having helped scale one from immature to mature
- Comfort with high visibility and direct leadership communication
