Skydio is the leading US autonomous drone company, serving defense, public safety, and enterprise customers. As Senior Product Manager for the Dock & Drone Ecosystem, you will lead strategy and execution for Skydio's rapidly scaling X10 Dock platform—a hardware and software system that enables autonomous drone deployment, maintenance, and fleet management at scale.
You will own end-to-end product delivery across hardware and software, working cross-functionally with customers, engineering (hardware, firmware, computer vision, AI/ML), design, operations, and go-to-market teams. Your responsibilities include:
- Conducting direct customer discovery, ride-alongs, and analytics-driven research to identify and prioritize the most impactful problems for dock users and deployment teams.
- Developing and publishing product requirement documents and roadmaps for current and future dock products.
- Partnering with hardware and software engineering leaders to execute your product vision, balancing technical feasibility with customer needs.
- Capturing and synthesizing customer feedback to steer product direction and ecosystem strategy.
- Collaborating with sales and customer success to maintain close customer relationships, drive adoption, and ensure deployment success.
- Working with product marketing to develop launch plans, positioning, and messaging.
- Thinking systemically about ecosystem health, reliability, scalability, and long-term extensibility—balancing individual product opportunities with broader platform strategy.
This role requires deep ownership of strategy, execution, and go-to-market for a mission-critical product serving high-stakes customers in defense, public safety, and enterprise sectors.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 3–5+ years of experience defining and delivering hardware products with associated end-to-end software experiences, with clear ownership of strategy, execution, and GTM.
- Demonstrated passion for customer discovery and learning directly from users; customer mission alignment is core to the role.
- Deep interest in system scaling, reliability, data analysis, and hands-on problem-solving.
- Experience shipping robust hardware products in commercial, public safety, or defense markets, or explicit interest in serving those customer segments.
- Strong systems thinking and ability to balance individual product opportunities with long-term ecosystem health, simplicity, and extensibility.
- Detail-oriented with exceptional written and oral communication skills.
- Direct or indirect engineering experience enabling active participation in deep technical discussions with engineers on complex architecture challenges and tradeoffs.
- Background in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or computer science (advanced degree or MBA a plus but not required).
BONUS:
- Experience with drones, robotics, autonomous systems, or products operating in demanding physical environments.
- Experience building product ecosystems with modular attachments/accessories and forwards/backwards compatibility challenges.
- Experience with remote fleet management, high-availability systems, or unattended at-scale operations.
- FAA Part 107 certification (strongly encouraged within first 60 days; required for certain positions).
