Osmo is a digital olfaction company building AI-powered systems to give computers a sense of smell, with applications across fragrance, manufacturing, security, medicine, and more. The company is headquartered in Elizabeth, NJ with an office in Somerville, MA.
You'll serve as a Senior Technical Program Manager embedded within Osmo's Software and AI organization, acting as the connective tissue between ML engineers, applied ML scientists, software engineers, and broader company stakeholders. This is a software-specific TPM role requiring deep technical credibility—you'll be comfortable in design reviews, reading code, understanding model architecture decisions and their downstream impacts, and driving technical execution on one of the most ambitious applied AI problems in the world.
Key responsibilities:
- Partner directly with software and ML leadership on execution strategy, resource planning, and timeline delivery
- Translate product and scientific ambitions into clear, actionable engineering milestones and build operational roadmaps from architecture to deployment
- Identify cross-functional blockers, make timeline tradeoffs visible, and drive resolution with tenacity
- Build deployment schedules for ML models and software systems
- Participate actively in design reviews and stay genuinely curious about how systems work
- Develop deep technical intuition around architectural bottlenecks, latency risks, and integration challenges
- Translate execution status and risk between technical teams and stakeholders with clarity and kindness
- Surface risks early with proposed solutions, not just escalations
- Help define what good technical program management looks like at Osmo
- Use AI tools and workflows in your own work for progress tracking, dependency mapping, and operational efficiency
The role is hybrid, requiring 3 days per week in Elizabeth, NJ. Osmo provides complimentary shuttle service from Brooklyn and Newark.
Requirements:
- 10+ years of combined experience in software/ML engineering plus program management or TPM roles
- Fluent in the ML lifecycle (data, training, evaluation, validation, deployment)
- Technically fluent: reads code, follows model architecture discussions in real time
- Proven track record delivering complex, multi-team projects with tenacity
- Fluency with modern AI tools and demonstrated use in your own work
- Naturally curious; comfortable walking into undefined spaces and asking clarifying questions
- Clear, confident communicator who bridges technical and business stakeholders
- Comfortable challenging senior leaders when timelines or resources don't align
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science or equivalent experience
Standout qualifications:
- Still write code by choice despite moving into program management
- Experience shipping applied AI at scale
- Built engineering delivery processes from scratch
- Comfortable with Python, SQL, or notebooks for self-checking status
- Built AI-powered tools that materially improved organizational operations
- Direct partnership experience with founders or senior technical leaders
- Ability to drive alignment through credibility rather than title
