Rohlik Group is building the future of e-grocery across five European markets (Czech Republic, Germany, Austria, Hungary, Romania) with over a million active customers. The company owns its entire technology stack, from storefronts and apps to automated fulfillment centers and last-mile logistics.
As Senior Product Design Engineer within the Customer Experience (CUEX) domain, you will own the end-to-end design of all customer-facing surfaces across web, iOS, and Android for five international markets. You will work in a deliberately tight-knit, high-performing team alongside a Product Owner, Engineering Manager, Tech Lead, peer product designer, and dedicated full-stack engineering team that ships fast, iterates constantly, and takes full ownership of the end-to-end user journey.
Key responsibilities include:
- Own the complete design lifecycle across all core customer journey stages: homepage, search & browse, product pages, basket, slot selection, checkout, and order tracking for web, iOS, and Android.
- Design and manage Maia, Rohlik's AI shopping assistant, defining interaction patterns, intervention logic, information presentation, and handoff to human support.
- Build and scale the design system (including component architecture, design tokens, patterns, and documentation) to provide precise guidance for AI coding agents generating on-brand interfaces.
- Drive experimentation and A/B testing: develop hypotheses, prototype rapidly, evaluate results objectively, and scale successful experiments.
- Conduct direct user research including qualitative interviews, usability testing, and field research with real customers to uncover friction points.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, Commercial, Marketing, and Operations teams.
This role offers high-impact group scope (designing for millions of orders across five markets), true end-to-end ownership, AI-first execution, direct customer engagement, and high accountability with low overhead.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 5+ years of experience designing consumer-facing digital products with a strong portfolio of shipped work across web and native mobile (iOS and Android).
- Advanced Figma and design system expertise: deep, hands-on experience building, scaling, and architecting multi-platform design systems at token and component level.
- Data-fluent mindset: ability to read and rigorously interpret A/B testing data, distinguishing genuine impact from vanity metrics.
- Fluency with AI tooling: practical experience integrating AI tools into modern design, prototyping, and design system workflows, with clear understanding of where conversational AI adds real interface value.
- User research expertise: demonstrated experience designing, running, and analyzing qualitative usability sessions directly with end users.
- Strong product reasoning and excellent English communication skills (C1 level or above) to articulate strategic and behavioral rationale behind design decisions.
NICE-TO-HAVES:
- Experience designing production-grade AI or assistant-driven interfaces.
- Experience contributing directly to code at component or token level.
- Background in e-commerce, quick-commerce, online grocery, or last-mile delivery.
- First-hand familiarity with how German customers shop.
- Fluency in German or Czech.
