Novellia is a patient-powered real-world data platform that enables patients to access their complete health records (spanning 20+ years across all doctors and health systems) in under 30 seconds, then transforms these longitudinal health journeys into datasets for biopharma innovation and evidence generation. Founded in 2023, the company has raised ~$30M from tier-1 investors (Spark Capital, Khosla Ventures, Bling Capital) and is growing 5x year-over-year.
You will serve as the Senior Product Analytics Engineer, owning analytics engineering for product and growth. This is a senior individual contributor role reporting to the Manager, Data and Analytics. You are not a service provider—you are a core peer to product and product design, joining roadmap planning, weighing in on feature scoping, and ensuring the right questions are asked before anything ships.
Key responsibilities include: serving as the dedicated data partner for product and design; auditing and owning product analytics instrumentation (event tracking); building and maintaining dbt models that power product, growth, and operational reporting; designing dashboards and self-serve tools for PMs and leadership; driving understanding of engagement, retention, and activation; identifying leading indicators of product-market fit; building scalable data pipelines for product and user data; collaborating with clinical/research analytics engineers on shared infrastructure; and proactively surfacing data quality issues.
Success in the first 6–12 months means: clear product metrics and funnels with event tracking built to support them; product and design treating you as a core team member (in the room during feature shaping, not just asked for numbers post-launch); shared understanding of core metrics (activation, engagement, retention); clean, documented, reusable dbt models; and product decisions grounded in data, not instinct.
You'll work with one of the most interesting datasets in consumer health—longitudinal patient records spanning years of real health history at a scale rare for a company at this stage. The questions you ask here differ from typical consumer startups. As a small team, your work has direct impact from day one.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 4+ years of experience in analytics engineering or closely related data role
- Experience at a consumer-facing company; understanding of how consumers use products and what metrics matter for growth
- Startup experience; ability to operate when priorities shift and there is no playbook
- Strong SQL and dbt skills; ability to build clean, modular, well-documented models
- Hands-on experience with Mixpanel, including working with engineers to define and implement event tracking
- Proven track record of working directly with product managers and designers (shaping what gets built, not just measuring it)
- Strong intuition for engagement and retention; experience with funnel analysis, cohort analysis, and retention modeling
- Experience with the company's stack or similar: BigQuery, dbt, Stitch, Hex
- Clear communicator who can translate between technical and non-technical stakeholders
- High ownership mindset; proactive about noticing and fixing what is broken
- Comfortable using AI tools to move faster (SQL, data exploration, documentation)
- Experience designing or supporting A/B tests and interpreting experiment results
BONUS:
- Healthcare or digital health experience
- Familiarity with healthcare data formats (FHIR, CCDA)
- NLP or experience with unstructured clinical text
- Open-source data project contributions
- Mobile analytics instrumentation experience (session lengths, deep links, push attribution)
- Track record of building self-serve dashboards that non-technical stakeholders actually use
- Familiarity with structured growth frameworks, North Star metrics, or AARRR
