Gusto is seeking a Senior Platform Operations Analyst to build and scale financial infrastructure for a payments platform serving 500,000+ small businesses. This is a project-driven role focused on designing new reconciliation and control systems, leading audit remediation efforts, and scaling operations across products and entities.
You will own cross-functional projects end-to-end, partnering deeply with Engineering, Product, Accounting, and Finance to design and implement systems and controls. You'll act as a subject-matter expert framing hard problems and driving them to resolution with minimal oversight. A key part of the role is mentoring analysts, building reusable AI workflows, and setting standards for how the team operates.
Day-to-day responsibilities include: designing and scaling reconciliation and control infrastructure across products and entities; leading audit remediation workstreams with external auditors and internal teams; owning complex reconciliation and loss issues that cross team boundaries; partnering with Engineering and Product to spec and build scalable systems; and building reusable AI workflows and templates that level up the entire Operations team.
The Platform Operations team sits at the foundation of Gusto's financial trust, safeguarding customer funds and keeping financial operations accurate, transparent, and scalable. You'll reconcile money movement, detect and investigate losses, resolve exceptions, and continuously improve processes and tooling.
Required: Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or related analytical field (or equivalent experience); 4-6 years in financial services, banking, fintech, payments, or accounting operations, ideally in cash management or reconciliation-heavy environments; experience scaling reconciliation processes to new products, entities, or geographies; demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional projects end-to-end with real independence; strong understanding of payment systems and money movement (ACH/NACHA, card networks, BAI2, MT940); experience designing or remediating controls and reconciliation processes that hold up to auditor scrutiny; exposure to regulatory requirements (MTL, SOX-style controls) in payments; strong SQL and data skills to dig into complex data sets; demonstrated use of AI to build durable, reusable automations and workflows; and strong written and verbal communication skills.
