As a Senior Platform Engineer, you will design and implement the foundational systems that power Bright Machines' Software Defined Manufacturing platform. You'll work across the organization to architect, build, and deploy the software stack spanning from robot control systems to cloud infrastructure. Your work will directly enable the deployment of flexible robotic manufacturing lines in factory environments serving major industrial customers.
Key responsibilities include:
- Design, implement, and maintain reliable, scalable, and secure infrastructure, applications, and tooling that support the Software Defined Manufacturing vision
- Write clean, maintainable code and conduct peer code reviews
- Create clear documentation and facilitate cross-team communication and knowledge sharing
- Investigate design approaches, prototype new technologies, and evaluate technical feasibility with team members
- Partner with adjacent teams to understand real-world usage of your frameworks and infrastructure, continuously improving them and leveraging advances to boost developer velocity
REQUIREMENTS:
- 5+ years of experience in Platform Engineering, DevOps, or Site Reliability Engineering (SRE)
- B.S. or M.S. degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
- Proficiency in at least one modern programming language (Python, Javascript, C#, Go, etc.)
- Proficiency with CI/CD tools and GitOps workflows
- Deep knowledge of Kubernetes (self-hosted and managed) and modern k8s paradigms (e.g., CNCF)
- Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code tools (Terraform, etc.) and configuration management tools (Ansible, etc.)
- Familiarity with observability stacks (Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry)
NICE-TO-HAVE:
- Experience with bare-metal or on-premises infrastructure
- Experience communicating with users, technical leaders, and management to collect requirements and architect software systems
- Knowledge of software engineering best practices (code reviews, SCM, CI/CD, testing, operations)
- Demonstrated ability to mentor and grow other team members
