Highnote is an embedded finance company founded in 2020 by leaders from Braintree, PayPal, and Lending Club. The company provides an all-in-one card issuer processor and program management platform, enabling digital-first organizations to issue and process payment cards, embed virtual and physical card payments, and integrate ledger and wallet functionalities. This role is a senior, hands-on operational position owning all network and processing functions. You will be responsible for managing direct network processing connections across Visa, Mastercard, Discover, American Express, and debit/ATM networks. Key responsibilities include:
- Network Connections & Processing: Own the health of direct and gateway network connections across issuing and acquiring. Lead and troubleshoot connection migrations, drive setup timelines, and manage message processing and reporting.
- BIN and ICA Lifecycle: Provision, configure, and manage Issuing and Acquiring BINs and ICAs across networks. Own sponsorship registration and associated identifiers (PayFac IDs, acquirer/issuer identifiers, acquirer BINs, ICA, CID, BID, FTSRE, NSIF). Resolve BIN blocks and setup delays directly with networks and banks.
- Network Certification: Run certification for new connections and program types, including POS, card-present, and card-not-present test cases across networks and debit rails.
- Network Compliance: Ensure network releases (major and minor) for issuing and acquiring are completed and compliant with network operating rules. Monitor and resolve non-compliance issues reported by networks or bank partners through development and variance requests.
- Settlement & Reconciliation: Manage settlement schedules and value dates. Read and apply network settlement reporting and advisements. Work with finance and engineering to ensure settlement and reconciliation accuracy across all sponsor banks.
- Transaction Investigation: Investigate processing exceptions, reversals, auth holds, and disputes using network research tools. Determine root cause and drive fixes with networks and internal teams.
- Network Economics: Understand network fees and interchange. Support BIN and program pricing strategy to ensure correct pricing of network products for subscribers.
- Relationship Management: Serve as a trusted senior contact for networks and sponsor bank partners. Act as mediator between banks and networks when partners lack in-house expertise.
You will partner closely with sponsor banks, product and engineering teams, finance, and the networks themselves. This role requires someone who is meticulous, driven, and tenacious about chasing problems to resolution. The position is central to how Highnote processes payments and how subscribers and bank partners rely on the platform.
