Okta's IT Network Engineering team is seeking a Senior Network Operations Engineer to own the full operational lifecycle, Service Level Objectives (SLOs), and availability for distinct network services across the global enterprise. Reporting to the Network Engineering Manager, you will apply systems-level thinking and strong technical proficiency in Infrastructure as Code, observability, and automation to design scalable architectures, eliminate manual toil, and ensure an "Always Secure. Always On." environment. Key responsibilities include managing the operational lifecycle and availability for network services across global offices and cloud environments; collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders (Business Technology, Workplace, Security, TDI teams) to plan projects, improve IT network security, and resolve recurring incidents; developing and maintaining system consistency across the fleet through change management, network monitoring configuration, and on-call rotation participation; leading technical delivery, architecture research, and blameless post-mortems to drive systemic learning; and coaching and mentoring team members by recognizing potential, recommending training, and drawing connections in network problems from a systems perspective. Required qualifications include 5+ years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree (or 3+ years with a Master's degree or equivalent); comprehensive understanding of networking concepts including WiFi, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, VPN, ACLs, Routing, and Firewall Policies; strong proficiency in Infrastructure as Code to automate deployment, scaling, and recovery; proficiency in scripting or programming languages to build custom tooling; proven experience with observability tools and data-driven SLI/SLO definition and monitoring; and direct experience working with hardware/software vendors, Internet/WAN connectivity partners, and managing wireless networks. Desirable skills include experience with Juniper/JUNOS switching/routing, Palo Alto Networks NGFWs, and enterprise office build and construction processes. This role offers the opportunity to directly impact customer and technology experiences, ensure secure and consistent end-user experience across a global enterprise network, work in a collaborative environment that values systemic learning, eliminate manual toil through innovation, mentor peers, and occasionally travel to build impactful connections.
