Flock is transforming motor fleet insurance using telematics, AI, and real-time data to help fleets prevent crashes and improve driver safety. Recently acquired by Admiral (May 2026), the company combines startup energy with the backing of the UK's leading motor insurer.
As Senior Motor Fleet Underwriter, you will manage and develop a large business portfolio while leveraging advanced analytics and AI to assess risk, optimize underwriting processes, and create tailored policies for fleet clients. You'll mentor junior team members, contribute significantly to team targets, and help unlock growth into new market segments and emerging mobility trends. The role involves using AI tools to extract risk data from submissions and triage cases faster, freeing your time for judgment calls that require experienced underwriting expertise.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing a substantial business portfolio and mentoring junior underwriters
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with insurance brokers
- Collating data and providing analysis to the Head of Underwriting to monitor and assess portfolio performance
- Gathering feedback and continuously improving processes for risk information collection to ensure smooth quoting and onboarding
- Identifying opportunities to enhance policy wording and coverage
- Staying current with rapidly evolving market trends and cutting-edge Motor Fleet products and services
- Training and developing members of the Underwriting and Operations teams
- Using AI tools in underwriting workflows while maintaining independent judgment on all decisions
- Supporting the company's ambition to become one of the UK's largest fleet MGAs
The company operates a hybrid model with a minimum of 3 days per week in the Central London office (near Moorgate and Liverpool Street). Client site and broker office visits can substitute for office days.
REQUIREMENTS:
Essential:
- Extensive experience underwriting motor fleet insurance
- Track record of building strong relationships with insurance brokers
- Ability to collate data and support portfolio monitoring and analysis
- Comfort using AI in underwriting work (extracting risk information, speeding up quoting) while maintaining independent judgment
- Knowledge of rapidly evolving Motor Fleet market trends and products
- Ability to train and develop team members
Preferred:
- Experience dealing with large corporate customers
- ACII qualification or working towards it
- Experience collaborating with product teams on product, process, and customer journey enhancements
