Form Energy is a climate tech company pioneering long-duration iron-air battery systems for grid-scale energy storage. The company has secured contracts with major US utilities and is ramping manufacturing at its West Virginia facility.
As Senior Microsoft 365 & Azure Engineer, you will own the technical strategy and operations of Form Energy's Microsoft ecosystem—the core platform infrastructure serving the entire company. This role builds on substantial existing work (Intune deployment, Windows Autopilot rollout, Azure Entra entitlement management) and scales it as the company grows from manufacturing ramp-up.
Key responsibilities:
- Own and evolve the Intune environment: policy design, compliance baselines, app deployment, and troubleshooting across a growing device fleet.
- Lead Windows Autopilot operations and improvements—provisioning profiles, enrollment experience, zero-touch deployment at scale.
- Manage and expand Azure Entra entitlement program: access reviews, conditional access policies, identity governance.
- Own SharePoint architecture and governance—site/hub structure, permissions models, information architecture, lifecycle management.
- Develop and maintain BYOD and device policy frameworks, including work with external consultants.
- Write and maintain technical playbooks and runbooks for the M365/Azure ecosystem.
- Design and implement automation using Microsoft Graph API and Power Automate to reduce manual toil.
- Partner with Risk & Cybersecurity on shared concerns (device compliance, conditional access, identity security) while maintaining clear operational ownership.
- Serve as platform-level escalation point for complex identity, device, or M365 configuration issues.
- Evaluate new Microsoft capabilities (e.g., Copilot, Intune Suite features) and recommend adoption.
- Contribute to platform inventory, documentation, and knowledge base.
- Participate in incident response as needed.
This is a hybrid role requiring 3+ days per week onsite in Somerville, MA. Relocation assistance is available.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 5+ years in Microsoft 365/Azure engineering or systems administration role with real depth (not just admin-console familiarity).
- Hands-on production experience with Intune: policy authoring, app deployment, troubleshooting at scale.
- Direct experience implementing or operating Windows Autopilot.
- Working knowledge of Azure Entra ID: entitlement management, conditional access, access reviews.
- Strong hands-on SharePoint management experience: site architecture, permissions/governance, hub sites, information architecture at organizational scale.
- Experience developing device/security policy for hybrid environments, including contractor or third-party device scenarios (BYOD).
- Strong scripting/automation skills with demonstrated Microsoft Graph API experience for automating identity, device, and M365 workflows.
- Hands-on experience building and maintaining Power Automate flows for business process automation across M365/Azure.
- Track record of writing clear technical documentation: playbooks, runbooks, SOPs.
- Comfortable operating with autonomy and moving quickly; able to design and implement solutions.
- Experience collaborating across security/risk and engineering boundaries.
PREFERRED:
- Experience with Microsoft Copilot deployment or AI governance in Microsoft ecosystem.
- Familiarity with Google Workspace or multi-IdP environments.
- Exposure to manufacturing, hardware, or engineering-heavy companies where IT supports corporate and plant/lab environments.
- Experience with SCIM provisioning or identity sync across platforms (Slack, Atlassian).
