The company operates residential food recyclers and is launching Mill Commercial, an end-to-end solution for managing food waste in commercial environments (grocery, restaurants, food services). You will oversee and optimize the mechanical supply chain on a global scale, managing sourcing, procurement, and supplier relationships for mechanical components, sub-assemblies, and materials. You will collaborate closely with engineering, product development, and manufacturing teams to ensure timely, cost-effective, and high-quality delivery of mechanical parts while maintaining strong supplier partnerships. Key responsibilities include: • Identify, qualify, and manage global suppliers for mechanical components, ensuring they meet quality, delivery, and cost requirements. Develop and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers. • Oversee designs and drawings, offer design-for-manufacturability (DFM) guidance for different manufacturing methods, and review manufacturing processes to maximize quality, capacity, and efficiency while driving costs down. • Oversee the entire mechanical supply chain process from supplier selection through delivery, ensuring efficient flow of parts from suppliers to production facilities. • Lead cost reduction initiatives, drive negotiations with suppliers, and secure favorable terms to optimize component costs. Continuously seek opportunities to streamline the supply chain. • Develop and execute supply chain strategies aligned with product development, manufacturing, and business goals. Ensure mechanical components are sourced and delivered on time to meet production schedules. • Partner with engineering and product development teams to ensure components meet design specifications, performance requirements, and manufacturability. Own sourcing decisions during the product design phase. • Monitor supplier performance against key metrics (quality, lead times, cost). Conduct regular reviews with suppliers to address gaps and implement corrective actions. • Identify and mitigate supply chain risks, including potential disruptions, material shortages, and capacity constraints. Develop contingency plans to ensure supply continuity. • Work with logistics teams to ensure timely and cost-effective transportation. Oversee inventory management to ensure optimal stock levels while minimizing excess inventory. • Ensure all sourcing and supply chain activities comply with industry standards, regulations, and sustainability initiatives. Promote environmentally responsible practices. • Willingness to travel internationally (20-30%) to manage supplier relationships, production, demand planning, quality, and on-time delivery at global manufacturing sites. Requirements: • 5-8+ years of experience in supply chain management, procurement, or sourcing, with a focus on mechanical components or manufacturing. Experience in global sourcing and managing a diverse supplier base is essential. • Strong understanding of mechanical manufacturing processes, including machining, injection molding, casting, and assembly. Knowledge of mechanical design and material science. • Strong negotiation, communication, and relationship-building skills. Ability to manage complex, global supplier networks and ensure high-performance standards. • Proficiency in using data analysis tools to drive decision-making, manage supplier performance, and track key supply chain metrics (cost, quality, lead time). • In-depth knowledge of global supply markets, trade regulations, and logistics management for mechanical components. Experience navigating cultural differences and managing cross-border relationships. • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, supply chain management, manufacturing engineering, or a related field. Advanced degrees or relevant certifications (e.g., APICS, ISM) are a plus. • Ability to assess supplier quality and capability quickly, with deep knowledge of manufacturing processes across a broad spectrum and raw materials knowledge.
