Rocket Lab is an end-to-end space company building rockets, spacecraft, and critical subsystems. The Senior Material Planner I is a key operations role based at Rocket Lab's global headquarters in Long Beach, CA, responsible for managing Material Requirements Planning (MRP) and planning for every part Rocket Lab manufactures or procures.
In this role, you'll act as a quarterback for production and supply chain operations, coordinating across engineering, quality, production, supply chain, and finance teams. You'll manage demand, supply, and fulfillment planning within the MRP system; maintain bill of materials, parts, and master data in the ERP system; and ensure timely release of purchase orders to procurement and work orders to production. You'll be accountable for updating demand forecasts to accommodate engineering change orders and communicating changes across the organization. A critical responsibility is creating visibility of material position through line of balance reports, material shortage reports, and clear-to-build reviews.
You'll work in a cross-functional team environment, collaborating closely with multiple departments to achieve company-wide goals and support Rocket Lab's rocket and satellite programs. The role requires strong organizational skills, the ability to prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment, and excellent communication abilities.
Required qualifications include 5+ years of material planning experience and a bachelor's degree (or 9+ years of equivalent work experience). You must have proven ability to produce material line of balance reports and conduct clear-to-build reviews, strong knowledge of MRP fundamentals including master data management, order policy, and BOM management, and proficiency in MRP systems, MS Office, ERP systems, and basic math/statistics. U.S. citizenship is required due to program requirements, and you must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
Nice-to-have qualifications include prior experience in aerospace, EV automotive, or other disruptive manufacturing industries; experience in rapid growth environments; ability to read and interpret engineering drawings; familiarity with AS9100 standards and US export controls; and strong problem-solving skills in a multi-tasking, deadline-driven setting.
