Salary: USD 82,000 - 105,000 / annual
Rocket Lab is seeking a Senior Material Planner I to manage materials, production planning, and supply chain operations at its Long Beach, CA headquarters. This role is critical to the success of Rocket Lab's rocket and satellite programs.
You will be responsible for demand, supply, and fulfillment planning within the MRP (Materials Requirements Planning) system. Key responsibilities include maintaining bill of materials, parts, and master data within the ERP system; ensuring timely release of purchase planning messages to procurement and work orders to production; updating demand to accommodate engineering change orders; and creating visibility of material position through line of balance reports, material shortage reports, and clear-to-build reports.
You will act as a quarterback for the supply chain and operations teams, coordinating across engineering, quality, production, supply chain, and finance to ensure production schedules align with supplier lead times, inventory levels, and engineering build timelines. This is a cross-functional role requiring strong collaboration and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.

QUALIFICATIONS (Required):
- 5+ years of material planning experience and a bachelor's degree, OR 9+ total years of work experience without a degree
- Proven ability to produce material line of balance and conduct clear-to-build reviews
- Proven knowledge of Material Planning fundamentals: master data management, order policy, BOM management, planning release and fulfillment
- Proficiency in MRP systems
- Proficiency in MS Office, ERP systems, math and statistics
- U.S. citizenship required due to ITAR program requirements
- Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance
QUALIFICATIONS (Nice to Have):
- Prior experience in aerospace, EV automotive, or other disruptive manufacturing industries
- Prior experience in rapid growth environments
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
- Experience with AS9100 and US export controls
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with effective prioritization
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities
- Team-oriented with ability to multitask in fast-paced environments and meet multiple deadlines
