Salary: USD 146,000 - 194,000 / annual
Anduril Industries, a defense technology company, is seeking a Senior Manufacturing Quality Engineer to join its Quality Engineering team in the Boston area (currently Lexington, MA, relocating to Waltham, MA). You will drive quality excellence across manufacturing processes, products, and supplier operations while ensuring compliance with aerospace quality standards.
In this role, you will own quality initiatives across the product lifecycle—from design and manufacturing through field support. You will drive Quality Management System compliance and sustainability to AS9100 certification, develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs) for product quality, and implement data-driven approaches to evaluate and prioritize quality issues across suppliers, manufacturing, and field operations.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading investigations and root-cause analysis initiatives to implement corrective and preventative actions internally and with suppliers
- Developing and improving internal tracking tools for supplier incoming, manufacturing in-process, and field quality issues
- Supporting supplier inspection programs, incoming inspection processes, and Material Review Board (MRB) activities
- Evaluating, selecting, qualifying, and monitoring supplier performance
- Managing containment, audit, and disposition of quality escapes and defective material
- Cross-functional collaboration with production teams to define product roadmaps and ensure quality requirements are captured in incoming material inspection, process control plans, and end-of-line tests
- Driving improvements in product design, manufacturing processes, and service/field support to enhance reliability
This is a hands-on role requiring expertise in quality management systems, statistical process control, and regulated manufacturing environments. You will thrive in a culture of continuous improvement and data-driven decision-making.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or similar technical field
- 5+ years of relevant experience working with OEM suppliers and manufacturing operations building complex hardware/software systems
- 5+ years of experience in engineering, manufacturing, or quality within aerospace/defense, automotive, or medical device fields
- Experience working in ISO 9001 and/or AS9100 regulated environments
- Working knowledge of quality core tools: FMEA, RCCA/8D, Change Management, APQP, PPAP, and GD&T
- Hands-on experience using mechanical and electrical metrology tools/instruments
- Working knowledge of electro-mechanical design and relevant manufacturing processes
- Strong ownership mindset and demonstrated project management capability
- Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master's degree in a technical field
- Experience as a lead auditor for AS9100 or other ISO 9001-based QMS standards (ISO 13485, IATF 16949)
- Experience supporting manufacturing of Integrated Dewar Cooler Assemblies (IDCAs) and/or Infrared (IR) Cameras
- Experience with high-mix, low-volume manufacturing and suppliers
