Impulse is seeking a Senior Manufacturing Manager to lead the manufacturing operations for Helios, a high-energy kick stage vehicle designed to deliver satellites and payloads to high-energy orbits, the Moon, Mars, and beyond.
In this role, you will hire, manage, and mentor a team of manufacturing engineers and technicians supporting hardware builds and integration activities. Your responsibilities span the full manufacturing value stream: sheet metal fabrication, welding, drilling, mechanical assembly, propulsion and avionics integration, vehicle checkouts, and tube operations including bending, flaring, on-the-wing (OTW) work, non-destructive evaluation (NDE), and acceptance testing.
Key responsibilities include:
- Building and developing a high-performing manufacturing team through hiring, mentoring, and technical training
- Collaborating with design engineers and quality teams to ensure manufacturability, design-for-manufacturing (DFM) compliance, and long-term reliability
- Setting and tracking daily and weekly production targets with performance metrics
- Providing hands-on production floor support, resolving build issues, updating work instructions, and improving manufacturing yields
- Developing, documenting, and optimizing manufacturing processes for hardware, integration, and vehicle checkouts
- Establishing and maintaining high technical standards through specifications and team training
- Partnering with the Mojave test site, providing periodic technical support and bandwidth as needed
- Working cross-functionally with leaders and individual contributors across disciplines
You will contribute to all aspects of vehicle development and have direct impact on mission-critical hardware for space applications.
