Rocket Lab is seeking a Senior Manager, Test Site Operations to oversee all operations at their test facility at NASA Stennis Space Center in Mississippi. This is a foundational leadership role within a fast-moving aerospace organization focused on developing Neutron, a medium-lift reusable launch vehicle.
You will own all test infrastructure and operations spanning rocket engine development, stage systems development, and high-cadence production testing. The role requires hands-on leadership across infrastructure development, engine test operations, site administration, and logistics.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading and mentoring a team of engineers and technicians in engine test operations, test stand construction, engine assembly, and infrastructure maintenance
- Developing and maintaining project plans, budgets, and schedules across multiple departments and engineering disciplines
- Managing external contractors and suppliers
- Continuously improving test site infrastructure to enable multiple engine tests per day
- Overseeing site administration, supply chain, and logistics
- Ensuring team health and safety in a high-pressure environment
Required qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical, aerospace, or related technical discipline
- 10+ years of experience in propulsion engineering and/or propulsion test leadership
- Demonstrated experience supporting high-paced technical projects
Desirable qualifications include advanced degree, experience with liquid natural gas/methane propellants, sub-component to full flight system testing background, software development for data acquisition systems, and knowledge of complex IT systems for propulsion testing.
This role involves occasional exposure to moderate noise, dust, and fumes in production areas.
