Salary: USD 117,000 - 137,000 / annual
Blend is a cloud banking platform used by Wells Fargo, U.S. Bank, and over 330 other financial services firms to process an average of more than $5 billion in loans per day. The company is seeking a Senior Manager of Technical Accounting to lead the technical accounting function through the next phase of growth.
In this high-profile role, you will lead technical accounting research and provide guidance on complex accounting matters including consolidations, investments, internally developed software, revenue recognition, business combinations, leases, stock-based compensation, impairments, debt/equity instruments, and earnings per share. You will research and conclude on technical accounting issues, document conclusions in formal accounting position papers, and serve as liaison with external auditors to ensure alignment on accounting positions.
Key responsibilities include designing, implementing, and operating SOX 404 controls over assigned technical accounting areas; staying current with FASB and SEC initiatives to track proposed changes and new accounting standards; serving as a trusted business partner and advisor to stakeholders across Accounting, Finance, Legal, and cross-functional teams; and building technical accounting capability across the finance organization through training and scalable frameworks.
You will lead monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes for technical accounting matters, including review of journal entries, reconciliations, and SEC disclosures, with delegation of routine items to team members. You will also take a leadership role in special projects and workflow process improvements, including implementation of AI initiatives.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
- Active CPA license
- 10+ years of progressive experience with concentration on technical accounting; strong technical expertise in multiple facets of US GAAP and capability to conduct independent research
- Prior public accounting experience required; Big 4 preferred
- Experience with ERP systems (NetSuite preferred)
- Track record of process automation with passion for applying AI to accounting workflows
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders
