ServiceNow is seeking a Senior Manager of Systems Engineering to lead a team responsible for designing, building, and scaling global cloud infrastructure systems at the heart of the ServiceNow product. This role reports to the Director of Systems Engineering and combines technical leadership with people management. Key Responsibilities: - Own deployment, management, and support of systems comprising ServiceNow's Canadian sovereign cloud running on GCP, while contributing to global cloud initiatives across Azure, AWS, and GCP. - Lead the engineering team responsible for definition, configuration, delivery, and validation of compute across private and public cloud infrastructure. - Work with Product and Program management to define external commitments and roadmap. - Facilitate engineering team autonomy through project planning, prioritization, Agile processes, and skill development. - Support engineer growth via hiring, goal setting, individual development plans, and performance reviews. - Provide technical guidance for systems and process optimization; participate in architectural reviews. - Assess risks, vulnerabilities, and mitigations of core services to ensure high availability, operational soundness, and performance at scale. - Collaborate with peer teams on complex, global engineering efforts to ensure architecture agreement and resource coordination. - Set and sustain technical standards and best practices in your domain. Note: This position requires successful completion of a Government of Canada Reliability Status screening as a condition of employment, which requires 5 years of verifiable background history and generally requires Canadian citizenship or permanent resident status. Requirements: - 12+ years' experience leading systems/software development and engineering, release management, and DevOps across a global 24x7 production environment with a Bachelor's degree; OR 8+ years with a Master's degree or equivalent experience. - People management experience, specifically with technical operations teams such as DevOps. - Deep technical fluency in public cloud, infrastructure automation, DevOps practices, and software engineering principles. - Proficiency with infrastructure components including public cloud, OS, Linux, virtualization, web applications, and databases. - Production experience running services at scale on public cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP, etc.). - Experience with configuration management platforms at scale. - Demonstrated success balancing competing priorities in fast-moving environments. - Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. - Cross-functional collaboration skills to build consensus and drive complex projects to completion. - Ability to drive technical direction while supporting engineering autonomy and creativity. - Outstanding communication skills. - Experience leveraging or critically thinking about how to integrate AI into work processes, decision-making, or problem-solving.
