Salary: USD 140,000 - 170,000 / annual
NewLimit is a biotechnology company developing medicines to treat age-related diseases by reprogramming the epigenome. The company uses functional genomics, pooled perturbation screening, and machine learning to unravel the biology of epigenetic aging and disease at unprecedented scale.
As Senior Manager of Lab Operations, you will lead a team responsible for accelerating the company's scientific research programs through operational excellence. You'll work closely with scientists and engineers to design, build, and scale laboratory infrastructure and processes.
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead and mentor lab operations staff while collaborating with scientists and engineers to build and operate a world-class functional genomics laboratory
- Own the strategy for procurement, maintain lab infrastructure, manage inventory, and drive efficiency improvements across research operations
- Develop and manage the lab operations budget; cultivate vendor relationships and negotiate contracts across the biomedical research industry
- Identify operational bottlenecks across the organization and drive cross-functional solutions
- Serve as primary escalation point and strategic partner for equipment, inventory management, and procurement, working with Facilities, Finance, and Operations leadership
- Ensure laboratory safety, chemical hygiene, waste treatment, and foreign agent testing programs comply with federal, state, and local regulations; serve as point of accountability for compliance audits
- Develop and implement scalable operational processes and standard operating procedures to support lab growth
- Contribute to hiring, onboarding, and performance management for the lab operations team
Required qualifications: 7+ years in cell biology, molecular biology, genomics, or similar laboratory setting with experience managing people and programs; demonstrated experience managing vendor contracts and cross-functional stakeholders; strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills; ability to identify inefficient processes at scale and lead organizational change; experience with procurement and purchasing systems, inventory and sample management systems, and environmental health and safety.
Nice-to-have qualifications include vivarium management experience, budget and team priority management, and hands-on research experience in cell or molecular biology with familiarity in cell culture, cloning, and NGS library preparation.
