Salary: USD 202,000 - 223,000 / annual

Muon Space, a LEO satellite constellation provider founded in 2021, is seeking a Senior Manager to lead and build the Hardware Reliability & Test organization. This role owns the end-to-end hardware qualification and testing strategy across all platforms, from module-level through fully assembled spacecraft. Key responsibilities include: - Building and leading teams across three functions: Reliability & Qualification, Spacecraft Acceptance Test & Test Framework Engineering, and Test Support Resources - Defining and owning vehicle and subsystem qualification strategies, partnering with subsystem owners to ensure consistency across platforms - Developing and refining quantitative reliability models, identifying data gaps, and proposing additional testing to inform design decisions - Owning Muon's hardware test frameworks, standards, results databases, and tooling across all integration levels - Delivering standardized, mission-tailored spacecraft-level tests - Providing shared hardware, software, and logistical resources supporting qualification and lifetime testing across the hardware organization - Partnering with Systems Engineering and Business Development to demonstrate systems meet customer requirements - Communicating reliability posture and test status to leadership and customers Required qualifications: - 10+ years in hardware test, qualification, or reliability engineering, with 3+ years leading engineering teams - Hands-on experience qualifying complex hardware for spaceflight or similarly demanding environments (thermal, vacuum, vibration, EMI/EMC) - B.S. in Electrical, Mechanical, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical field - Proven ability to define processes and drive consistency across multiple engineering teams - Working knowledge of reliability analysis methods (FMEA, fault trees, statistical reliability modeling) - Familiarity with software-driven test frameworks and automated test infrastructure - Excellent communication and presentation skills Nice-to-have: Advanced degree, experience with spacecraft environmental test standards (NASA GEVS, SMC-S-016), experience standing up new teams/processes, test data pipeline expertise, familiarity with industry reliability standards (MIL-HDBK-217, ECSS, ISO 26262, AEC-Q). The role is hybrid, requiring three days per week on-site in San Jose.
