IonQ (NYSE: IONQ) is the world's leading quantum computing platform and merchant supplier, delivering integrated quantum solutions across computing, networking, sensing, and security. The company achieved a world record in 2025 with 99.99% two-qubit gate fidelity and serves major customers including Amazon Web Services and AstraZeneca.
ID Quantique (IDQ), part of IonQ, is a global leader in quantum-safe communications, protecting governments, telecommunications infrastructure, and financial institutions from "harvest-now, decrypt-later" threats through terrestrial and space-based quantum-safe networks in live operation globally.
This role is based onsite in Geneva, Switzerland. You will report to the Senior Manager, Hardware, and lead the people and execution of the cryptographic engineering team. The team builds post-quantum cryptography (PQC) hardware acceleration for quantum-safe product portfolios, targeting hardware security module (HSM) and network-appliance applications.
As a people-leadership and delivery role, you will manage and develop a team of 8+ highly specialized engineers spanning applied cryptography, RTL and FPGA design, firmware and protocols, verification, QA, and security certification. Responsibilities include recruiting and onboarding, coaching and career development, objective setting, performance management, and retention. You will build a high-performing and collaborative engineering culture.
You own end-to-end programme execution: planning and milestones, dependency and risk management, resource allocation, budget ownership and management, and clear reporting to executive stakeholders. You will establish engineering processes (development workflow, reviews, tooling, lab operations), remove blockers, and coordinate with talent acquisition, HR, product management, certification bodies, IP vendors, and customers.
You will work closely with the programme's senior technical leaders, giving them room to own technical direction while you make the organization around them work effectively. This is an opportunity to lead exceptional people on a strategic security product line at one of the few companies where quantum-safe security is the core business.

- Technical depth in digital hardware, embedded software, or security engineering to earn respect of deep specialists
- Exposure to cryptography or security products is a strong advantage
- Proven ability to hire well and grow senior specialists
- Execution rigor (planning, risk, reporting) without over-processing
- Crisp communication with executives, partners, and customers
- Fluency in English required; French or German is an advantage
- Preferred: leadership through trust, clarity, and service to team rather than hierarchy; pride in people growth and delivery predictability; protection of deep work and high-trust culture
