At Bumble, you'll lead a globally distributed team responsible for investigating and responding to the company's most critical, complex, and urgent safety cases. This role sits at the intersection of Trust & Safety operations, law enforcement partnerships, and product strategy, ensuring Bumble responds to safety incidents with care, consistency, and sound judgment. You'll own the strategy and operational effectiveness of the Critical Response function globally, translating emerging safety risks into clear plans, performance measures, and scalable operating practices. You'll lead and coach an experienced team across US, UK, and Australia time zones, creating a culture of Courage, Respect, and continuous learning while ensuring effective coverage and operational readiness. Key responsibilities include: - Setting strategy and performance objectives for the global Critical Response function - Leading, coaching, and empowering a geographically distributed team of experienced professionals - Strengthening investigation processes, escalation pathways, decision frameworks, training, and quality standards for urgent and high-risk cases - Serving as a senior escalation point for complex, sensitive, and novel incidents, collaborating across Policy, Product, Legal, Engineering, and Communications - Building operational health measures using Trust & Safety risk analytics and case trends to identify emerging threats and operational gaps - Partnering with Product and Engineering to evolve investigation tools and capabilities, identifying responsible opportunities to use AI and automation while preserving human oversight - Strengthening relationships with law enforcement, non-profits, government agencies, and external safety stakeholders - Establishing mechanisms for case review, knowledge-sharing, and continuous improvement You'll collaborate across Trust & Safety, Policy, Product, Engineering, Legal, Communications, and Partnerships, while building trusted relationships with external partners including law enforcement and government bodies. REQUIREMENTS: - 8+ years of experience (or equivalent demonstrated skills through alternative backgrounds) - Substantial experience in global Trust & Safety, investigations, crisis or critical incident response, law enforcement operations, risk management, or related field - Deep experience navigating complex and highly sensitive escalations - Experience building trusted partnerships with law enforcement, government agencies, non-profits, or external safety organizations - Proven track record as an experienced people leader who has developed high-performing teams, ideally across multiple regions or time zones - Strong expertise in escalation management and operational process design, including building scalable workflows, governance, quality standards, and performance frameworks - Ability to use data and operational insights to identify patterns, root causes, and drive measurable improvements - Experience with Trust & Safety risk analytics or similar approaches valued - Ability to collaborate with and influence senior stakeholders across Legal, Policy, Product, Engineering, and Communications - Curiosity about how AI can improve safety operations and team effectiveness, with ability to champion responsible adoption
