Fluidstack is building civilization-scale compute infrastructure for AI at unprecedented speed and scale. The company is acquiring power, designing and operating data centers, and rethinking every layer of the stack to deliver 10–100s of GWs of compute faster than anyone else.
You will lead Fluidstack's corporate sustainability program from the ground up, owning all environmental, health, and safety (EHS) strategy and execution as the company scales one of the largest compute buildouts in history. This is a high-impact role with direct influence across Design, Construction, Energy, Supply Chain, and Commercial teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build Fluidstack's first corporate GHG inventory across Scope 1, 2, and 3, covering behind-the-meter generation, construction, and a multi-gigawatt fleet. Prepare this inventory to withstand audit, customer, and regulatory scrutiny.
- Own all sustainability disclosures and data requests end-to-end: CDP, EU Energy Efficiency Directive data center reporting, CSRD readiness, and sustainability sections of hyperscaler RFPs and due-diligence questionnaires.
- Develop and execute a water strategy for a geographically dispersed fleet spanning water-scarce regions, setting WUE (Water Usage Effectiveness) targets and site-level stewardship plans that satisfy permitting and community engagement requirements.
- Transform operational data—meters, fuel logs, invoices—into an auditable environmental system of record so carbon and water numbers derive from data, not last-minute spreadsheets.
- Extend the sustainability program across global manufacturing, supply chain, and logistics: pull supplier emissions data, quantify freight footprint, and establish environmental standards for manufacturing facilities.
- Quarterback sustainability commitments across internal teams so targets signed in customer contracts translate into actual specs, power deals, and site plans.
You will operate with full autonomy, own scope end-to-end, and drive everything forward with insane urgency. The company values first-principles reasoning, challenging every assumption, and building something that actually matters.
Requirements:
- You have personally built a Scope 1, 2, and 3 GHG inventory from scratch and defended it line-by-line with an auditor, customer, or regulator.
- You have run disclosure cycles (CDP, GRI, CSRD, or customer-specific questionnaires) end-to-end, on deadline, without a large team behind you.
- You have transformed messy operational data, meter reads, fuel logs, and utility invoices into numbers a CFO or hyperscaler would sign off on.
- You have worked in heavy infrastructure (data centers, energy, industrial) and can hold your own with engineers on PUE, WUE, and market-based versus location-based accounting.
- You have extracted emissions and environmental data from global supplier and logistics bases and obtained numbers vendors don't volunteer.
- You quarterback across teams that don't report to you, and the commitments you own show up in contracts, specs, and permits—not just in decks.
- Bonus qualifications: Renewable energy procurement (PPAs, RECs, 24/7 carbon-free energy matching); lifecycle and embodied carbon assessment (LCA, EC3); data center sustainability frameworks (EU EED, ENERGY STAR for Data Centers, The Green Grid); sustainability credentials (CEM, LEED AP, ISSP).
