Lydian is developing sustainable fuels from waste CO2, water, and renewable electricity to decarbonize aviation. The company has achieved key milestones including producing liquid fuel from a pilot system capable of generating ~10,000 gallons annually, backed by top climate investors including Congruent Ventures, Union Square Ventures, and Voyager Ventures.
As Senior Lab Technician, you will drive R&D lab operations and technical upkeep of a 25,000 sq. ft. research lab and pilot facility in Charlestown, MA. You will serve as a core technical contributor, bridging engineering concepts and practical lab operations by ensuring equipment, test stands, and chemical processes run with high precision and reliability.
Key responsibilities include: providing technical execution support for chemical synthesis, slurry mixing, and lab analysis; performing assembly, disassembly, and mechanical tuning of custom lab test systems; managing inventory of process consumables, spare parts, chemicals, and hardware; executing preventive maintenance schedules for engineering equipment and facility systems; maintaining hazardous waste logs and operational documentation; diagnosing and leading repairs on mechanical, fluid, and control systems; and supporting development of lab operations SOPs.
You will drive synthesis of novel catalyst formulations and own execution of custom test assembly builds. You will act as a leader in lab safety and chemical hygiene, facilitating engineering development goals in a safe, efficient, and well-stocked laboratory environment.
This is a fully onsite position (5 days/week) that may require night and weekend flexibility to support commissioning, outages, and critical testing campaigns. You should be mechanically inclined, hands-on, curious, and proactive, with clear communication skills and ability to work across disciplines.
