Strava is a global community platform for active people, with over 200 million athletes across 185+ countries. The company is backed by Sequoia Capital and other leading investors and is expanding rapidly. In this Senior IT Engineer role, you'll be a domain expert across Strava's core enterprise systems, responsible for building and scaling a modern, secure, and efficient IT environment. You'll work in a hybrid model (3+ days per week on-site in San Francisco) and report to IT leadership. Key responsibilities include: • Optimize and manage core enterprise cloud applications including Google Workspace, Slack, JIRA, Notion, Linear, and collaboration tools • Design and implement scalable SaaS application architecture and enterprise integrations using APIs and iPaaS platforms • Automate business processes and IT workflows across the application stack, leveraging tools like Okta Workflows, Tray.ai, Workato, Boomi, or Zapier • Partner with security and IT leadership to implement endpoint security using NIST frameworks, manage user access audits, and maintain compliance • Lead patching automation for company laptops and vulnerability management • Evaluate and recommend tools for data loss prevention and disaster recovery • Implement data privacy processes in collaboration with legal and security teams • Advance Okta beyond basic app assignment into granular authorization and entitlement models (groups, app roles, admin roles, access policies) • Review and improve GitHub/engineering platform access controls including org ownership, repo privileges, and service account management • Define granular access patterns for business applications (birthright access, request-based access, role changes, deprovisioning, periodic reviews) • Provide Tier 2 IT incident support and mentor junior team members • Build and maintain clear technical documentation, architecture diagrams, and business process flows • Partner with your manager to define and implement the technical vision for the IT function Requirements: • Substantial hands-on experience implementing, managing, and customizing corporate applications such as Google Workspace, Slack, JIRA, Notion, and Linear • Proficiency with infrastructure management tools including Okta, JAMF, and InTune • Proven experience working with integration platforms (Okta Workflows, Tray.ai, Workato, Boomi, Zapier, or similar) • Strong understanding of REST/SOAP APIs and industry-standard integration practices • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) • Proficiency with scripting languages such as Google Apps Script, GAM, Python, Java, or PHP for IT automation • Solid knowledge of networking fundamentals and protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, SPF, DKIM, DMARC) • Strong documentation skills and ability to translate complex systems into clear visual artifacts Nice to have: • Experience with RPA tools (Automation Anywhere, Blue Prism) • Experience implementing AI tools (Gemini, Claude, or similar) • Experience scaling IT in a hyper-growth startup environment
