As Senior IT Engineer, you will serve as a domain expert across Strava's core enterprise systems, architecting and implementing a modern, scalable SaaS application environment. This is an opportunity to help shape the IT function from the ground up as the company scales.
Key responsibilities include:
- Optimize core enterprise cloud applications including Google Workspace, Slack, JIRA, Notion, and Linear
- Design and implement scalable integrations across the application stack using APIs and iPaaS platforms
- Automate business processes and IT workflows to drive efficiency
- Partner with IT leadership and security teams to secure endpoints using NIST frameworks and conduct regular user access audits
- Implement data privacy processes in collaboration with legal and security teams
- Evaluate and recommend tools for data loss prevention and disaster recovery
- Lead automated patching for company laptops and vulnerability management
- Provide Tier 2 IT incident support and mentor junior team members
- Build and maintain clear technical documentation, architecture diagrams, and business process flows
- Define technical vision for the IT team in partnership with management
- Improve Okta implementation with granular authorization and entitlement models
- Review and enhance GitHub/engineering platform access controls
- Define granular access patterns for business applications including birthright access, request-based access, and deprovisioning workflows
The role operates on a flexible hybrid model with more than half your time on-site in the San Francisco office (three days per week).
Requirements:
- Substantial hands-on experience implementing, managing, and customizing corporate applications such as Google Workspace, Slack, JIRA, Notion, and Linear
- Proficiency with infrastructure management tools including Okta, JAMF, and InTune
- Experience with integration platforms such as Okta Workflows, Tray.ai, Workato, Boomi, or Zapier
- Strong understanding of REST/SOAP APIs and industry-standard integration practices
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
- Proficiency with scripting languages including Google Apps Script, GAM, Python, Java, PHP, or similar
- Solid knowledge of networking fundamentals and protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, SPF, DKIM, DMARC)
- Strong documentation skills and ability to translate complex systems into clear visual artifacts
- Experience improving Okta beyond basic app-assignment into granular authorization/entitlement models
- Experience reviewing and improving GitHub/engineering platform access controls
- Ability to define granular access patterns for business applications
Nice to have:
- Experience with RPA tools (Automation Anywhere, Blue Prism)
- Experience implementing AI tools such as Gemini or Claude
- Experience scaling IT in a hyper-growth startup environment
