Tennr is a healthcare technology company that automates the complex insurance referral and payment workflows that currently overwhelm healthcare providers. The company uses proprietary models to handle the tedious paperwork required for patient referrals and provider reimbursement, enabling operators to get patients the right care at the right time.
You will be the senior infrastructure engineer on Tennr's Infrastructure team, owning the cloud infrastructure, Kubernetes clusters, and environments that power the entire platform. This is a hands-on, high-ownership role where you will design and maintain the foundational systems that the rest of engineering depends on.
Key responsibilities include:
- Designing and building out the EKS (Elastic Kubernetes Service) cluster module and establishing patterns that other engineering teams will inherit and build upon
- Owning end-to-end cluster management across dev, staging, and production environments
- Leading infrastructure migrations with a focus on safety, staged rollouts, and minimal disruption
- Driving the consolidation of infrastructure observability onto Datadog and establishing standards for the broader engineering organization
- Owning AWS infrastructure including networking, IAM, and core services, implemented as infrastructure-as-code, with emphasis on security-by-default and cost awareness
You will execute quickly and autonomously while establishing patterns and guardrails that shape how the entire engineering organization approaches infrastructure. The role emphasizes pragmatism, simplicity, durability, and shipping over perfection.
The team works from Tennr's Hudson Square office in Manhattan 4 days per week, with flexibility for remote work.
Requirements:
- 5–8 years of hands-on experience in infrastructure, platform, or DevOps engineering with real ownership of production systems
- Deep hands-on experience with Kubernetes (EKS preferred) and Terraform or comparable infrastructure-as-code tools
- Solid AWS fundamentals including networking, IAM, and core services used in modern platforms
- Experience with Datadog or comparable observability/monitoring stacks, with a clear point of view on what good observability looks like
- Ability to execute autonomously and make sound technical decisions independently
- Pragmatic bias toward simple, durable systems and shipping over gold-plating
- Bonus: experience in regulated or healthcare environments (HIPAA/PHI compliance)
