Salary: USD 120,000 - 140,000 / annual
Beacon Biosignals is transforming precision medicine for the brain through at-home EEG and cardiopulmonary diagnostic platforms for clinical development and clinical care. The company serves life sciences partners developing novel therapeutics for neurological, psychiatric, and sleep disorders, as well as building a diagnostics business for reimbursable assessments.
As a Senior Hardware Test Engineer, you will be a key member of the Device Team, reporting to the VP of Device Systems. You will drive the development and verification of new and modified EEG and Home Sleep Test systems that meet application, business, customer, and regulatory requirements. Your responsibilities include hardware characterization and verification testing, firmware unit and integration testing, system integration, root cause analysis, and comprehensive documentation to meet quality and regulatory standards.
You will collaborate closely with hardware, firmware, system, and software engineers throughout the product lifecycle—from concept through commercialization. Key responsibilities include developing and executing device testing in accordance with Beacon's Quality Management System; creating and documenting detailed test plans, protocols, and scripts for embedded systems based on design specifications; developing and maintaining test procedures, fixtures, and equipment; conducting functional, integration, system, and regression testing on hardware and firmware; troubleshooting and resolving product issues in partnership with design teams; ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements (FDA, CE, IEC 60601); and implementing process improvements and test automation to enhance quality and efficiency.
Beacon maintains robust asynchronous work practices supporting remote work, with office hubs in Boston, New York, and Paris. This role requires approximately 3 days per week in the Boston office with flexible scheduling.
**Requirements:**
- Education: BS in engineering or related field
- Work Experience: 5+ years of professional engineering experience (with BS degree) OR 3+ years (with MS degree or above)
- Detailed technical writing experience including requirements, test plans, protocols, and reports
- Ability to read and follow electrical schematics
- Experience with embedded software on real-time operating systems (RTOS)
- Proficiency with scripting languages such as Python
- Troubleshooting, debugging, and root cause analysis experience with hardware and firmware issues in electromechanical systems
- Experience with Git/JIRA and GitHub platforms
- Preferred: Knowledge of design controls and medical device regulations
