Robust AI is a fast-growing early-stage robotics and AI startup founded in 2019, seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join a small, collaborative team designing and deploying next-generation warehouse robotic systems. In this role, you will own the full electrical hardware lifecycle: designing and iterating custom PCBs from schematic capture through board layout, hands-on bring-up and debugging of hardware on the current robot fleet, and informing the architecture of next-generation robots. You'll generate design documentation, lead design reviews, conduct rapid prototyping, and work directly with fab houses and contract manufacturers to take boards from prototype to production. Cross-functional collaboration with mechanical, firmware, and software engineers is central to the role, including support for firmware integration and testing. You thrive in ambiguity, move quickly, and are comfortable wearing multiple hats. You're excited about seeing robots deployed at scale and can pivot effectively as priorities shift in an early-stage startup environment. The ideal candidate is happiest with a scope, soldering iron, and stack of datasheets within arm's reach. REQUIREMENTS: - Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or equivalent - 5+ years of experience in electrical/hardware engineering - Strong electrical and embedded systems fundamentals - Experience with schematic capture and PCB layout (Altium preferred) - Proven track record of releasing boards to production with designs meeting EMC compliance requirements - Hands-on experience debugging complex electromechanical hardware using scopes, logic analyzers, and DMMs - Familiarity with communication protocols (USB, I2C, SPI, UART, RS485, etc.) - Comfortable in fast-paced, early-stage startup environment with ability to pivot as priorities change - Strong written and verbal communication skills for technical and cross-functional audiences PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: - Firmware development in C - Python scripting and Linux environment comfort - Microcontroller proficiency, preferably STM32 family - BLDC motor and motor control familiarity - Background in robotic or mechatronic systems
