Tiger Data (formerly Timescale) is a fast-growing PostgreSQL platform company trusted by thousands of organizations globally. As Senior FP&A Analyst, you will report to the FP&A leader and own financial planning and analysis across the business, helping drive strategic decision-making for a venture-backed, high-growth company. You will own headcount planning, forecasting, and budget tracking across the organization, including approved roles, hiring timing, compensation assumptions, and variance tracking. You'll maintain visibility into cost of goods sold, support recurring COGS forecasting and variance analysis, and partner with Marketing to monitor spend, evaluate program ROI, and track budget performance. Key responsibilities include supporting weekly ARR forecasting by gathering inputs, validating assumptions, and maintaining forecasting cadence; preparing recurring financial slides and executive materials that explain performance drivers and highlight areas requiring attention; running budget-versus-actual analysis and following up with department leaders on spending changes and risks; and supporting monthly and quarterly planning conversations with clear financial analysis. You will partner with Accounting during month-end close to improve accruals and variance explanations, improve recurring FP&A processes and templates for greater speed and consistency, and validate financial and operating data to identify inconsistencies. The role includes leveraging AI tools to accelerate analysis, draft performance narratives, and identify trends while maintaining strong judgment and accuracy. You will own creation of meticulous Board and executive materials, ensuring every number is accurate and every message is decision-useful. This is a builder role for someone excellent at core FP&A work and energized by creating structure in an evolving environment. You will investigate what drives the business, write clear performance narratives, and help leaders make better decisions—not simply update templates or publish numbers. REQUIREMENTS: - Strong FP&A experience including forecasting, headcount planning, budget management, and variance analysis - Ability to independently manage recurring financial processes and produce accurate work with limited supervision - Comfortable partnering directly with department leaders and asking thoughtful questions when assumptions or spending plans don't align - Strong ability to translate financial data into clear written explanations of business performance - Strong spreadsheet and financial modeling skills; comfortable working with large or imperfect datasets - Deep commitment to data integrity; will investigate numbers that look wrong rather than passing them along - Intellectual curiosity and tendency to ask "why" rather than simply reporting numbers - Demonstrated sound judgment in applying AI tools to analytical work - Ideally based on East Coast or able to work substantial East Coast hours for team overlap
