Retell AI is a Y Combinator-backed voice AI platform transforming customer experience for enterprises like CVS/Aetna, American Airlines, Lenovo, and Grab. The company has scaled to $80M ARR with a team of 50 and is valued at over $1.5B. As a Senior Forward Deployed Engineer based in Hong Kong, you will work directly with enterprise customers across APAC to build, deploy, and scale voice AI systems, sitting at the intersection of customers and engineering.
You will own customer projects end-to-end, from initial requirements gathering through production deployment. Your responsibilities include building and deploying voice AI and LLM-powered applications, developing integrations and production systems using Python and JavaScript, and working directly with customers to understand requirements and design technical solutions. You'll run technical demos, help customers maximize value from Retell's platform, and partner closely with Sales, Product, and Engineering teams to solve complex customer problems. You'll also identify product gaps and collaborate with Engineering to improve the platform, while helping build Retell's presence across APAC. Travel across the region is expected as needed.
This role requires strong technical depth combined with customer-facing excellence. You'll operate in a fast-paced environment where you can move quickly, make decisions with ambiguity, and have direct impact on one of the fastest-growing voice AI companies.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 2+ years in a customer-facing technical role (Forward Deployed Engineer, Solutions Engineer, Technical PM, Customer Success Engineer/Support Engineer, or similar)
- Strong communication skills with ability to explain technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Strong software engineering skills, particularly in Python or JavaScript
- Experience working with AI/LLM systems or complex technical products
- Fluent in both Mandarin and English
- Based in Singapore or Hong Kong; open to traveling across APAC as needed
