Shield AI is a venture-backed defense-tech company developing intelligent autonomy systems to protect service members and civilians. The company produces Hivemind autonomy software, V-BAT and X-BAT aircraft, and Aechelon simulation technologies, with operations across the U.S., Europe, the Middle East, and Asia-Pacific.
As a Senior Forward Deployed Engineer, you will serve as a technical expert supporting customers during implementation and deployment of Shield AI's enterprise autonomy software products. You will work closely with customers to understand their requirements and ensure successful integration of AI and autonomy capabilities.
Key responsibilities include:
- Become an expert user of the Hivemind Enterprise Autonomy Software Development Kit
- Develop AI and autonomy applications using Hivemind for unmanned platforms across air, sea, land, and space domains
- Deploy Hivemind AI infrastructure at customer sites
- Provide technical training to customers for their autonomy development efforts
- Assist customers in integrating Hivemind autonomy into their vehicles and platforms
- Debug software and API integration issues
- Collaborate with product and engineering teams to address customer feedback and improve products
- Develop and maintain technical documentation and training materials
- Support the sales team in answering complex technical queries from customers
- Travel to customer sites as required (approximately 30% travel)
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
- 4+ years of industry experience
- Technical background in software engineering
- Strong proficiency in writing modern C++ code
- Intermediate proficiency in writing Python code
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
PREFERRED:
- Experience in the defense, aviation, or robotics industry
