Anduril Industries is a defense technology company transforming U.S. and allied military capabilities through advanced technology. The company develops Lattice OS, an AI-powered operating system that integrates thousands of data streams into a real-time 3D command and control center, bringing cutting-edge autonomy, AI, computer vision, sensor fusion, and networking to military systems.
As a Senior Firmware Engineer on the Manufacturing Test team, you will develop new platforms to interact with Anduril's products at the lowest levels, working with protocols including I2C, SPI, CAN, UART, USB, and others. You'll be part of an interdisciplinary product development team delivering streamlined solutions for test execution and automation. Your code will ensure consistent shipment of the highest quality products to customers.
Key responsibilities include:
- Building firmware and software solutions that test Anduril's products, utilizing expertise to anticipate failure modes and build code for host/client verification of form, fit, and function
- Developing low-level firmware/software for microcontroller platforms interfacing with robots or control algorithms for off-the-shelf data acquisition tools
- Building device-side validation of system-level features using SSH, gRPC, and creating or leveraging existing debug tools
- Quickly debugging and troubleshooting issues spanning electrical, firmware, and software boundaries, then transferring those processes to automated test and failure analysis standard operating procedures for production line staff
- Engaging in design-for-test (DFT) and design-for-manufacturability (DFM) reviews with electrical engineering and product firmware teams
You will build features targeted at embedded Linux, NIX, and several real-time operating system (RTOS) platforms. You'll debug and solve complex data acquisition challenges in both analog and digital realms, thinking creatively to solve difficult testing problems and continuously improve automation methods, throughput, user interfaces, and data analytics.
REQUIREMENTS:
- BS or MS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering, or equivalent industry experience
- 8+ years of relevant industry experience
- Strong C coding ability for embedded systems
- Experience integrating microcontrollers with analog and digital sensors
- Experience developing firmware in bare-metal, RTOS environments, and embedded Linux
- Solid understanding and application of coding best practices, board bring-up, and debugging
- Familiarity with common bus protocols such as USB, SPI, I2C, CAN, RS232, RS485, and Ethernet
- Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- 10+ years of relevant industry experience
- Bring-up and debug expertise for new designs, comfortable with low and high-speed interfaces
- Strong fundamentals in data acquisition and analysis (FFT, Bode plots, control loops)
- Experience with one or more microcontroller cores (ARM, AVR, MSP430, PIC, etc.)
- Experience with embedded Linux development and deployment processes
- Debugging skills with JTAG, SWD, oscilloscopes, and logic analyzers
- Bias for action and natural curiosity about technologies and tools
