Horizon3.ai is a fast-growing remote cybersecurity company building NodeZero, an autonomous pentesting platform that helps organizations proactively identify and fix exploitable attack vectors at scale. The platform is used by ITOps/SecOps teams, consulting pentesters, and managed service providers across organizations from educational institutions to Global 100 enterprises.
You will join as a Senior Full Stack Engineer to own meaningful product work end-to-end, building capabilities that enable customers to understand, prioritize, and act on risk in their environments. This role is approximately 80% backend-focused and 20% frontend-focused, requiring comfort moving fluidly between backend services and modern frontend application development.
Key responsibilities include:
- Building and shipping world-class product capabilities spanning backend services, APIs, and modern web application interfaces
- Owning moderate-to-large projects end-to-end: scoping, technical design, implementation, rollout, and iteration
- Implementing user-facing experiences that are clear, maintainable, performant, and aligned with product and design requirements
- Partnering closely with Product, Design, and adjacent engineering teams on cross-functional initiatives
- Proactively identifying and resolving technical risks, blockers, and mis-scoped work before they escalate
- Communicating technical topics clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences, including tradeoffs and delivery risks
- Contributing to architectural and design discussions with strong focus on maintainability, operability, and long-term team productivity
- Writing high-quality code, tests, and technical documentation; providing strong code reviews
- Supporting and mentoring less experienced engineers through thoughtful feedback and collaboration
- Driving continuous improvement in engineering quality, team execution, and product experience
The company is a fusion of former U.S. Special Operations cyber operators, startup engineers, and cybersecurity practitioners, committed to solving common security problems: ineffective tools, alert fatigue, blind spots, checkbox security culture, skills shortage, and expensive consulting cycles.
Travel: Fully remote with up to 10% travel required for team project kickoffs and annual company meetings.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience
- 6+ years of professional software engineering experience
- Experience building backend services using at least one modern language: Python, Go, Java, TypeScript, or similar
- Experience building frontend applications using modern frameworks: Angular or React
- Experience working with SQL-based relational databases in production
- Experience building backend services on a cloud platform (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and familiarity with Docker and containerized applications
- Strong professional experience building and operating production software across both backend and frontend layers
- Strong understanding of APIs, service-oriented architectures, data modeling, and engineering tradeoffs in scalable systems
- Ability to independently drive substantial work from vague problem statement through delivery while coordinating with cross-functional stakeholders
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Track record of strong engineering execution, sound technical judgment, and pragmatic problem solving under ambiguity
- Experience mentoring other engineers through code reviews, design collaboration, and technical guidance
- Product-minded thinking focused on building experiences that improve customer outcomes
- Comfort working across multiple workstreams and balancing competing priorities
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
- PostgreSQL and performance tuning for large datasets

- Building or consuming GraphQL backends
- ETL pipelines and data processing tools (Airflow-like frameworks, custom ETL jobs)
- Observability stacks (Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana) and service instrumentation
- Cybersecurity, vulnerability management, security analytics, security data platforms, or adjacent domains
- Building products in vulnerability management, exposure management, or security telemetry
- Risk scoring, prioritization systems, or data-intensive backend workflows
- Partnering with product managers to define and sequence MVPs effectively
- Defining technical standards or practices adopted beyond immediate team
- Shaping technical direction across an organization with influence beyond a single team
