Clumio, a cloud-native data protection platform (part of Commvault), is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to join its Backend team in Seoul. The Backend team designs, builds, and operates core backend systems that power Clumio's control and management plane, serving enterprise customers for whom data protection is a foundational compliance and security requirement.
In this role, you will be a key hands-on contributor responsible for designing, building, and operating backend services that support critical platform capabilities including control planes, user-access management, and backup workflows. You will take ownership of features or components from implementation through production operation, continuously improving them based on real-world usage, operational signals, and customer feedback. You will contribute to service design and API development, making sound technical trade-offs that balance correctness, scalability, cost, and maintainability.
You will spend most of your time writing and reviewing production-quality code, diagnosing and resolving complex backend issues, and participating in on-call and operational responsibilities. You will work closely with Product, quality assurance, customer-facing, and other teams to clarify requirements, ensure production readiness, and support smooth feature delivery. Through code quality, design contributions, and mentorship of junior engineers, you will help reinforce best practices and strengthen the reliability and scalability of the backend platform.
The Backend team operates a mature, production-proven cloud-native platform and collaborates closely across engineering and product disciplines as Clumio expands its capabilities across multiple cloud environments. The team focuses on building highly reliable, scalable, and operable distributed systems that form a critical part of Clumio's enterprise-grade cloud data protection platform. You will report to an Engineering Director.

Preferred:
- Experience owning a component or subsystem within a larger backend or cloud-native platform
- Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure, and common cloud-native design patterns
- Experience with data-intensive systems, object storage, or large-scale backend services
- Exposure to backup, disaster recovery, or data protection systems in production environments
