Shield AI is a venture-backed defense-tech company developing AI-powered autonomy software and robotic systems for military and civilian applications. The Hivemind Quality team ensures their autonomy platform delivers a seamless developer experience for building autonomous systems.
In this Senior Software Integration Engineer role, you will become a deep expert in the Hivemind SDK and autonomy stack, working at the intersection of engineering development and real-world autonomous applications. You will develop and validate customer use cases, evaluate developer experience, and provide actionable feedback to engineering and product teams.
Key responsibilities include:
- Develop systems integration expertise for autonomous robotics, configuring and deploying multi-agent systems across simulation, hardware-in-the-loop, and flight platforms
- Integrate new autonomy capabilities (algorithms, perception pipelines, middleware, platform interfaces) into the integrated product, ensuring seamless interoperability
- Lead integration of autonomy software onto new robotic hardware platforms, configuring sensor drivers, communication interfaces, and platform adapters
- Develop integration tooling, deployment scripts, and configuration management to streamline bringing capabilities into SIL, HIL, and flight environments
- Ensure autonomy stack operates reliably across all supported platforms, operating systems, and deployment configurations
- Analyze system logs, telemetry, and rosbag data to diagnose integration defects and create analysis tooling to accelerate debugging
- Partner with DevOps teams to streamline integration pipelines, reduce build-to-deploy cycle times, and ensure robust continuous integration
- Validate system requirements and interface contracts, developing tooling to verify end-to-end system compliance
Requirements:
- Minimum 3–5 years of related experience with a bachelor's degree in CS, Computer Engineering, Robotics, or related field; OR 2 years with a master's degree
- Proficiency in Python or C++
- Experience with autonomous systems, server applications, or middleware
- Demonstrated experience designing integration workflows, communicating system dependencies, and triaging integration defects across subsystem boundaries
- Proficiency with simulation tools and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing environments
- Strong expertise with CI/CD pipelines
- Strong problem-solving skills and proven track record of delivering high-quality software solutions
- Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across teams and present to customers or technical leadership
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience building complex systems with strong understanding of software architecture and design principles
- Hardware or embedded systems experience
- Expert-level Python knowledge
- ROS experience
- White box testing experience
- Familiarity with networking, operating systems, and radio communications
- Experience designing automated tooling for GUI or server application testing
