Charge Robotics is a Series A startup building robots that construct solar farms, directly addressing labor bottlenecks in the renewable energy sector. The company is MIT-founded and backed by top-tier climate tech investors including Lux Capital and Y Combinator (S21).
As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you will design and implement the electrical systems powering the company's robotic factory, with direct impact on deploying gigawatts of clean power generation. Your responsibilities include:
- Designing, testing, and validating electrical systems including power distribution, control circuits, and signal conditioning for the robotic factory
- Selecting and integrating motors, sensors, actuators, PLCs, and other electrical/electronic components to meet system requirements for reliability and performance
- Creating electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and harness designs while establishing standards for electrical documentation and best practices
- Troubleshooting electrical issues in factory and field deployments, collaborating closely with mechanical and software teams to ensure seamless system integration
- Scaling electrical systems from design through manufacturing and deployment to actual solar farms

REQUIREMENTS:
- Strong experience in electrical engineering with hands-on skills in power systems, control systems, and industrial automation
- Ability to read and create electrical schematics, panel layouts, and wiring diagrams; proficiency with CAD tools for electrical design
- Experience specifying and integrating electrical components (motors, drives, sensors, relays, PLCs) and understanding of electrical codes and safety standards
- Prior experience in a fast-paced startup environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Based in or able to relocate to the SF Bay Area; able to work 4-5 days/week from San Leandro HQ
- Genuine interest in climate impact and seeing work deployed on actual solar farms
NICE-TO-HAVE:
- Experience with high-power electrical systems, motion control, or industrial robotics
- 4-year degree in electrical engineering or related field
- Familiarity with Python or other programming languages for testing and automation
