Salary: GBP 122,400 - 136,000 / annual
Coinbase is seeking a Senior Data Scientist to join the Product team in the consumer organization. You will apply data science expertise to improve customer experience across Coinbase's consumer products, including spot and advanced trading, yield products, Coinbase One (CB1), international expansion, and new launches such as prediction markets and equities trading.
In this role, you will conduct deep-dive analyses on ambiguous business problems and deliver insights that guide strategic decision-making. You will own a broad scope of data and metrics, from core logging infrastructure through data visualization and presentation. You will guide code reviews, provide SQL and Python expertise, and maintain well-engineered ETL pipelines. A key responsibility is maintaining high statistical rigor across experimentation and causal analyses to build stakeholder confidence.
You will work in partnership with Product, Engineering, and Design teams to influence product roadmaps and better understand users. Your work will directly impact the company's bottom line through measurement frameworks, causal inference, and translating insights into shipped product improvements.
Coinbase is a remote-first but not remote-only company. Expect quarterly in-person "surge" sessions for intensive collaborative work.
REQUIREMENTS:
- BA/BS in a quantitative field (Math, Stats, Physics, Computer Science) with ≥5+ years of relevant experience, OR PhD in a quantitative field with ≥3+ years of relevant experience
- Demonstrated experience driving impactful data science projects in ambiguous problem spaces
- Ability to influence external stakeholders by synthesizing data learnings into compelling narratives
- Practical expertise applying complex modeling frameworks to business problems
- Professional experience with SQL and Python
- Experience working with digital products in iterative development cycles
- Demonstration of core cultural values: clear communication, positive energy, continuous learning, efficient execution
- Ability to responsibly use generative AI tools and copilots (LibreChat, Gemini, Glean) in daily workflows with human-in-the-loop practices
