Venice is a consumer AI company built on principles of privacy, free speech, and user sovereignty. You will join as Senior Data Scientist, Business Analytics, reporting to the VP of Business Operations. The core challenge: Venice is privacy-first and deliberately collects less user data than competitors. This creates a unique analytical problem—how do you make confident, data-driven product decisions with limited telemetry? How do you separate signal from noise without exhaustive user tracking? You will be the authoritative source on data at Venice. Your responsibilities include: **End-to-end data ownership.** Decide where data lives, how it flows, and how it's queried. Build infrastructure, tooling, and dashboards that serve as ground truth for the company. Consolidate data access across finance, product metrics, and growth analysis into a unified data lake with specialized views. **Strategic analytics leadership.** Proactively identify and answer the questions that matter most to the business. You'll work with product managers, engineering, finance, marketing, and leadership to ensure every major decision is backed by rigorous analysis. You'll be honest about uncertainty—recommending decisions with appropriate caveats when data is incomplete, rather than claiming false certainty. **Analytical foundation building.** Assess the current data warehouse and product analytics tooling (PostHog, Postgres). Identify gaps and build what's missing: dashboards, self-serve analysis tools for PMs, data models, and reporting pipelines. Make analytics accessible so decision-makers don't need to come to you for every question. **Privacy-aligned analytics.** Be the analytical voice that says "we don't need to collect this" when new tracking is proposed. Find methods that don't require invasive tracking. Help the team understand tradeoffs between data granularity and user trust. **Experiment tracking and rapid iteration.** Support product experimentation by building systems so the team can monitor tests without spreadsheets. Handle the pace of constant shipping—new models, features, modalities, revenue streams—by building metrics robust to rapid product change. **Cross-functional partnership.** Work with engineering on thoughtful instrumentation, finance on business metrics, marketing on growth attribution, and the executive team on company-level strategy. You'll need to be creative with constrained data: quasi-experiments, proxy metrics, qualitative triangulation, and decision frameworks that work with what you have. You communicate clearly to executives without jargon, and you're excited about using AI agents to accelerate analysis and surface insights faster. **Requirements:** - 7+ years of demonstrated experience in data science or analytics - Product-minded approach: you think like a product manager and business owner, not just a technical executor - Strong SQL fluency and ability to write production-quality code - Experience building data pipelines, models, and tooling that become infrastructure - Knowledge of data warehousing concepts and modern analytics stacks - Familiarity with PostHog for product analytics and Postgres for data storage - Experience working in environments where data is messy, incomplete, or deliberately constrained - Fluency in at least one programming language (Python, Rust, TypeScript, or Go preferred) - Ability to communicate clearly about uncertainty and present to executive teams without jargon - Alignment with privacy principles and understanding of data ethics - Preference for iterative, fast-moving work over perfect-but-late analysis
