Reserv is a venture-backed insurtech (founded 2022, backed by Bain Capital and Altai Ventures) focused on automating manual claims processes through AI and automation technology. The company serves TPAs, insurance technology providers, and adjusters.
As a Senior Data Scientist, you will guide the trajectory of Reserv's data offering and drive growth. You will play a crucial role on the data science team, collaborating directly with the business to understand customer analytical needs and build predictive models to explore them. This role is ideal for a data scientist with a solid foundation in predictive modeling and data analysis, ready to shape a key component of the company's value proposition.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct hypothesis-driven analyses across customer claims portfolios and surface trends to improve claims outcomes
- Guide creation and implementation of both heuristic and complex predictive models, adhering to Occam's Razor principles
- Build and maintain software tools to scale insight generation capabilities
- Collaborate with customer-facing teams to empirically ground market trends and insights
- Mentor junior data scientists and support analysts at customer companies
- Communicate technical ideas and specifications clearly to non-technical audiences
- Deploy code continuously from day one, influencing engineering culture
- Engage with cross-functional teams including product, ops, design, and sales as the organization expands
Requirements:
- 10+ years of experience as a data scientist with a robust portfolio demonstrating high-quality analysis and modeling
- Experience running end-to-end experiments: setting up datasets, developing controls, conducting hypothesis tests, running ablation studies, and rigorously evaluating outcomes
- Expertise in Python and relevant data science libraries, as well as agentic coding tools
- Strong software engineering foundation with commitment to delivering high-quality, maintainable, well-tested code
- Proven ability to stay updated with state-of-the-art techniques through continuous research and application
- Strong ability to prioritize customer requirements and adapt quickly to evolving project scopes
- Passionate about creating intuitive technology solutions with continuous desire to learn and take on new challenges
Location: Remote, but candidates must reside in an eligible U.S. state throughout employment (not California, Alaska, Hawaii, U.S. territories, or outside the United States).
