Dialogue is Canada's #1 virtual care provider, delivering an Integrated Health Platform that offers online primary care, mental health, iCBT, EAP, and wellness programs to organizations seeking to improve employee and family wellness.
As Senior Data Platform Developer, you will design, build, and maintain a modern data platform that empowers teams across Product, Sales, Operations, Finance, and Analytics to build data products and accelerate insights. You will define and implement engineering best practices across the full data lifecycle—from ingestion and transformation to consumption—while partnering with stakeholders to onboard power users into a self-serve model.
Key Responsibilities:
• Data Ingestion & Orchestration: Design scalable ingestion frameworks for batch and streaming data from SaaS sources, APIs, internal databases, and event systems. Orchestrate robust pipelines using Airflow, with opportunity to evaluate Temporal.
• Data Modelling & Semantic Layer Development: Define and enforce data modelling standards including dimensional modelling and semantic layer development. Enable software and analytics engineers to author production-grade transformations.
• Data Quality & Observability: Embed validation, testing, and observability throughout the pipeline. Define dbt testing standards and implement monitoring/alerting to ensure data products fail loudly and actionably.
• AI-Assisted Engineering Workflows: Design and implement AI-assisted workflows to accelerate data product development and ensure AI agents have accurate context and guardrails.
• CI/CD & Infrastructure as Code: Provision and scale infrastructure using Terraform. Build and maintain robust CI/CD pipelines with CircleCI for automated testing, validation, and deployment.
• Data Storage & Access Control: Manage data warehouse architecture, implement role-based access controls, and ensure compliance with healthcare data governance requirements.
• Data Governance & Discovery: Implement data governance frameworks and catalogs to keep large-scale data assets discoverable.
Requirements:
• 5+ years of experience building and scaling data platforms in production environments
• Strong expertise with modern data stack tools: dbt, Airflow, cloud data warehouses (Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift)
• Proficiency with Python or SQL for data transformation and pipeline development
• Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform) and CI/CD platforms (CircleCI or similar)
• Demonstrated ability to design and implement data quality frameworks and observability solutions
• Experience with data governance frameworks and data catalogs
• Familiarity with code-first BI platforms (Evidence, Looker/LookML)
• Strong communication skills and ability to partner across technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Healthcare or regulated industry experience is a plus
