Minka is a Series A fintech startup building an open platform for publishing money—a global, scalable ledger infrastructure designed to connect the world's balances and money through shared, connected ledgers. The company describes itself as the clearing layer for the web, aiming to improve how people interact with money by building the new backbone of the payments industry. You will join as a Senior Data Engineer, responsible for end-to-end data platform processes including collecting, storing, processing, and analyzing massive datasets. This is a hands-on, ownership-focused role where you will own, maintain, and plan improvements to the data platform infrastructure. You'll design and implement data structures to enable efficient analytics and reporting, build reliable and efficient ETL pipelines for data sync from various sources, and work with both OLTP and OLAP databases. The role involves deep diving into data to find relevant insights, identifying data sources for business needs, and enhancing the data collection process. You will work closely with an experienced engineering team led by CTO Zeljko Rumenjak in a fast-paced, agile environment. Responsibilities include participating in agile product development, ensuring features are prioritized accurately and releases delivered on time, investigating and recommending new technologies to improve system performance and reliability, and collaborating with Product, QA, and other stakeholders to design and plan new features. You'll also prepare and participate in release planning, making decisions to adapt to unplanned obstacles while maintaining consistency with product roadmap and customer priorities. Minka operates remotely across Latam, US, and Europe with a lean, well-funded team of senior individual contributors who are hands-on and strategic. REQUIREMENTS: - 5+ years of experience in data engineering - Degree in STEM-related area (e.g., computer science, electronic engineering, mathematics, physics) - Mandatory: Experience with commercial cloud-based solutions (GCP, AWS, Azure, Oracle) - Mandatory: Experience working with large and/or complex datasets - Experience using cloud pipeline architectures (Google Cloud Platform preferred) - Experience working with OLTP databases (PostgreSQL preferred) - Good level of SQL skills - Strong analytical and problem-solving skills - Strong communicator; able to convey ideas clearly to a multi-disciplinary team - Ability to learn new systems and work with global technology team PREFERRED SKILLS: - Experience in financial services or fintech - Experience with programming languages (Javascript, Java, Python, etc.) - Experience building stream-processing systems (using messaging systems such as Kafka or RabbitMQ)
